A healthcare-sector entrepreneur and philanthropist, Riccardo Braglia serves in the role of chief executive officer and group vice chairman of the board at Helsinn Group in Lugano, Switzerland. He has more than 35 years of international experience in the healthcare sector and has successfully grown Helsinn’s business to include activities not only in Switzerland, but in Ireland, China, and the United States, while products are available in over 190 countries. Under the guidance of Riccardo Braglia, Helsinn functions as an innovative licensing group, active in areas of pharmaceuticals and chemicals. Over the course of more than 40 years as a family-run business, the organization has established itself as a leader in supportive cancer care and more recently in cancer target therapies, with an overall goal of enhancing the quality of life for all patients.
Riccardo Braglia studied industrial business at Bocconi University in Milan, graduating with a master of business administration in 1985. He is a member of the Conquer Cancer Foundation, among other professional and charitable affiliations. In particular he founded New Flower in Africa Foundation to support education in many countries of Africa sub-Sahara. Mr. Braglia’s personal interests include art collecting and scuba diving.
